She has been teaching music for 7 years, privately and in music schools. She has a passion for teaching as well as performing. She is a second year master’s student at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. As a graduate assistant, Giada has enjoyed teaching at Northwestern as well.
Music has always been a part of her life. She began studying piano at the age of 7 and then violin at age 11. She thoroughly enjoyed playing violin in high level orchestras and at the Smith Center in Las Vegas. It was not until she was 18 years old that she discovered her affinity and passion for singing and opera. From March 2019 to August 2020, she served a volunteer mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving the people of Madrid and southern Spain. In Spain, Giada learned to speak Spanish fluently and had many opportunities to perform in concerts, including a Christmas concert with the Banda Municipal de Granada under the direction of Ángel López Carreño.
As an opera singer, her roles have included Witch/Hänsel und Gretel (Northwestern Opera Theater), Carmen (Northwestern Summer Intensive), and Grace Ansley/Roman Fever (UNLV Opera). She was recently the alto soloist for Beethoven’s Mass in C with Northwestern’s Symphony Orchestra and Choirs. In recital, she has sung the complete set of arias of Dalila/ Samson et Dalila, Azucena/ Il Trovatore, and Carmen. Giada studied vocal performance at UNLV under Dr. Alfonse Anderson and currently studies with Karen Brunssen at Northwestern. She and her husband, Matthew Sink (tenor), have enjoyed singing and performing together, including the leading roles of Carmen and Don José. Barney has also sung with the Opera Las Vegas chorus and the Las Vegas Master Singers, both who perform with the Las Vegas Philharmonic.
