Jonah Schumow is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in jazz styles and improvisation. With a rich and complete understanding of repertoire, Jonah aims to share his love of music while giving clear and attainable goals for each student. While receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst University, Jonah had the unique privilege of studying under legendary Chicago musicians such as Bob Rummage, Jeremy Kahn, and Tom Garling. In his time at Elmhurst, he also worked with the Count Basie Orchestra, Jeff Hamilton, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and other big name acts.

Outside of his time as an instructor, Jonah performs regularly with big bands, pit orchestras, jazz combos, and various groups in the Midwest. He additionally works as a clinician, guest artist, writer, and arranger for Lake County high schools. With genuine love for his work, Jonah dedicates his career to growing music in the community.
